Build a form with repeating sections

Ask the same questions once per guest, item or reference. Respondents add a row for each, and rows can add up to a total.

  • Free on every plan
  • Up to 50 rows per group
  • A record per row in Notion or Airtable

Free forever, no credit card.

  1. Add a repeating group and name a row, like Guest.
  2. Add the questions asked per row, and set the fewest and most rows.
  3. Share the form. Respondents fill in a row, click Add another guest, and fill in the next.

An RSVP for a party of four, an order with five products, an application with two references: no more Guest 1 name, Guest 2 name, Guest 3 name.

As many rows as there are things

Name the row (Guest, Item, Reference) and the form reads Guest 1, Guest 2 and Add another guest. Set the fewest and the most rows: one to six guests, exactly two references, or none at all for “anyone else living there?”. Required questions are required in every row.

A row asks real questions: text, email, phone, website, numbers, dates, choices, yes/no, ratings, countries and calculations. File uploads, signatures, addresses and payments stay outside the group. A row can have its own logic, like an allergies question that appears only for the guest who picked the vegan meal.

Line items that add up

A calculation inside the group works per row: quantity × price is that line’s total. Outside the group, SUM adds the rows up and COUNT gives a headcount. Point a payment at the total and the customer pays for exactly what they ordered, worked out again on the server so the browser can’t change it.

Each row its own record

In Notion and Airtable, each row can become its own page or record in a database of its own, linked to the response it came from: one guest per page, one line item per record. Create it for me sets up the database and the link. In Google Sheets, each row gets a line on a tab of its own. A revised response replaces its rows rather than adding them again.

Everywhere you read a response

The response shows a card per row. The Excel export has a sheet per group with a line per row. Emails, Slack and Teams messages list each row on its own line, and the API, webhooks and Zapier, Make and n8n get the rows with the answer.

Good for

RSVPs with a meal per guest, order forms with line items, expense claims, event registrations for a group, references on an application, family memberships, and anything that asks “how many?” before it asks “who?”.
