Conditions and routes
Not every response should get the same treatment. A Condition splits the workflow in two, a Route into as many branches as you like. Both look at the answers.
Condition
Section titled “Condition”A Condition checks the answers and continues on If yes or If no. Add a step under either one; leave a side empty to do nothing there.
In the step, under Run the yes branch when, add rules: pick a question, an operator and a value, like Budget greater than 5000. Choose whether all or any of the rules must match. For something like “(A and B) or C”, add a group: each group has its own all/any, and you choose how the groups combine.
A Route has named branches, like Netherlands, Enterprise or High priority. Each branch has its own rules, built the same way. Every branch whose rules match runs, so one response can go down several branches at once. A branch with no rules always runs, which makes a Route a way to do several things side by side.
Add default branch adds one that runs only when no other branch matches; it’s shown as Otherwise.
Operators
Section titled “Operators”What you can check depends on the question:
| Question | Operators |
|---|---|
| Text Input | equals, does not equal, contains, does not contain, starts with, ends with |
| Number, Rating, Calculated | equals, does not equal, greater than, less than |
| Date | is on, is not on, is after, is before |
| Multiple Choice (one answer), Yes/No, Country | equals, does not equal |
| Multiple Choice (several answers) | contains, does not contain |
| equals, does not equal, contains, does not contain, domain is, verified is | |
| Website | equals, does not equal, contains, does not contain |
| Phone | equals, does not equal, country code is |
| Address | country is, country is not, postal code starts with, city is |
| File Upload | has a file, has no file |
| Signature | is signed, is not signed |
Every question can also check is empty or is not empty (File Upload uses has no file, Signature is not signed). verified is appears when the Email question asks respondents to verify their address.
Continuing after the branches
Section titled “Continuing after the branches”Below a Condition, Route or Approval, After branches adds a step that runs once every branch has finished, whichever ones ran. If a step in a branch failed, it’s skipped, unless you set it to run when the previous step Fails or Always.
When a rule can’t be checked
Section titled “When a rule can’t be checked”If you delete a question a rule uses, or an option it compares with, the workflow shows a missing reference and won’t publish until you fix the rule. A Condition that can’t check any of its rules for a response fails the run, rather than guessing yes or no.
