Calculations

A Calculated question computes a value from other answers: an order total, a quiz score, a quote. It updates as the respondent answers, and can set the price of a Payment.

Write the Formula with numbers, + − × ÷ (or * and /), brackets, and questions picked from the list below the field, like Tickets × 19.99. These questions can be used:

  • Number and Rating: their value.
  • Multiple Choice and Yes/No: a value you give each option, under Values for the question (Yes/No starts at 1 and 0).
  • Another Calculated question.

An unanswered question counts as 0. A division by zero shows no value.

Under Formatting, add a Prefix like € or a Suffix like points, shown exactly as typed, and the number of Decimals.

Respondents see the value update as they go. To keep it out of sight, set Show this field to Never: compute silently: it’s still worked out and saved, and works in conditions, workflows and exports.

  • The value is computed again on our server when the form is submitted, so it can’t be changed by tampering with the page.
  • Calculated values can drive conditions and appear in workflow steps.
