Email verification
Pro teams can require a respondent to prove an email address is theirs: a 6-digit code is mailed to it and must be entered before the form accepts the answer.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”In the builder, open an Email question and switch on Verify email address. Publish the form.
Spam protection stays on for a form with a verified field; the toggle in the form’s settings shows why.
Required and Verify
Section titled “Required and Verify”They are two separate switches on the question:
| Required | Verify | Respondents must… |
|---|---|---|
| off | on | nothing, but an address they do enter has to be confirmed |
| on | on | enter an address and confirm it |
| on | off | enter an address; no code |
Verify never forces an answer. If the address itself is mandatory, turn on Required as well.
What respondents do
Section titled “What respondents do”- They type their address and click Email me a code.
- A code arrives within seconds, sent as “Your team via Nextforms” with the form’s name in the subject. Replies go to a team owner. Ask them to check spam if it doesn’t arrive.
- They enter the code under the field and click Confirm. A check mark confirms it.
Editing the address afterwards clears the check until the new address is verified. The form won’t submit while a verified field is filled but not confirmed.
Codes expire after 10 minutes and allow 5 attempts; Send a new code issues a fresh one.
What you see
Section titled “What you see”- Responses: a Verified badge next to the address, and a check mark in the table.
- Exports: a Verified column beside the email column.
- Workflows: the field offers an extra variable, Email · Verified (Yes/No), for Google Sheets columns, webhook bodies and emails. Condition and Route steps get a verified is rule, so unverified sign-ups can take a different branch.
